"I am supporting John because he has, for several years, been an active and effective volunteer leader in our Sunnyvale Community. He is a Sunnyvale Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Commission(BPAC) commissioner since 2014 and the current chair, neighborhood association executive board member, environmental organization executive board member, and a leader in his faith organization. He has volunteered with organizations to help the needy in Sunnyvale, volunteered to lead environment outdoor programs for all including the youth . Professionally, he has been a project manager for large projects. He cares deeply about maintaining and improving the quality of life for the residents of Sunnyvale with his past experience on many issues. He intends to work all in our community to build support so that we all can move forward together." - Linda Sell, Serra Park Resident
I enthusiastically support John Cordes as a Candidate for the City of Sunnyvale City Council. Through our work on the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Commission, I find John is thoughtful and engaged with the topics and problems that are associated with the Sunnyvale's Department of Public Works and the modes of transportation we are trying to accommodate Citywide. Outside of the BPAC, I recognize John as a strong neighborhood advocate in the "SNAIL" area and have seen him represent his neighborhood with kindness and class at events like the"Neighborhood Night Out". Personally, I admire John and his family's commitment to environmental sustainability, as I have toured his backyard as part of "Tour de Coop" seeing his chicken coops, gardens, and rain capture endeavors. I think John is the kind of guy we need to represent the Future of Sunnyvale. - Dave Jones, former BPAC Chairperson
John will be a voice on City Council that will not be compromised by outside influences. He will work towards affordable housing for the low to moderate income families who are being forced out due to over construction of large business complexes with the influx of workers, causing housing shortages. -Ron Banks, Mobile Home park resident
I am endorsing John Cordes for City Council seat #4. I have worked with John on the BPAC and while I was a Planning Commissioner. He is very knowledgeable and thinks about what needs to be done in a very practical manner. John works to find common ground with others he has to work with. I have found this trait to be very important in my years serving in various commissions for the city. John will be an asset to the city. He will strive to make Sunnyvale a safer more enjoyable city in which to live. I believe he is the best candidate for this seat. - Ralph Durham, Former Planning Commissioner, BPAC commissioner, and Arts Commissioner.
I’ve gotten to know John through his involvement with the SNAIL Neighborhood Organization. John helped out in various volunteer roles before he was elected Vice Chair and then Chair. He served reliably and cheerfully as Chair for three years. He planned and ran our meetings well. He communicated well with all of the diverse personalities in our organization. He let everyone have a voice. He mediated conflict calmly and skillfully. He made sure that things got done. Attendance at meetings remained strong during his tenure and it seems that several new, very good volunteers joined and are now still active due to his leadership. I am thankful that John chose to serve our neighborhood in SNAIL.- Jim Quaderer. SNAIL resident and former Chair
John understands the challenges of traffic and housing in Sunnyvale. He's very dedicated to making Sunnyvale more sustainable. His rainwater capture system is remarkable. - Suds Jain, Planning Commissioner, City of Santa Clara
John is involved, attentive, and a hard worker who cares. - Dr Gary Gold,
Because he is concerned about Sunnyvale's future growth and quality of life. He has a personal and political commitment to a greener Sunnyvale - Ted and Laura Wallace
