It was a long night at the May 9th Planning Commission meeting and many items. There was strong passion and many speakers both for and against the proposed Butcher's Corner development. Fremont Ave. (Butcher Property) Zoning: R-3/ECR (Medium Density Residential/Precise Plan for El Camino Real) Proposed Project: PUBLIC COMMENTS ON THE DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT for a mixed-use project on a 5.1-acre site, consisting of 153 residential units and 6,936 square feet of office/retail use. There were many people who spoke against the project because of concerns about its impacts, primarily traffic. There were also many speakers in favor of the project because they think Sunnyvale desperately needs more housing. Residents have until May 23rd to submit their inputs to the Project Planner: Noren Caliva-Lepe (408) 730-7659, firstname.lastname@example.org. Nothing was decided at the meeting on this topic. It's purpose was to collect input before creating the final EIR.
