I submitted my Nov 8th Ballot statement this morning. Candidate's statement in the ballots limited to 200 words. I hope you find mine compelling. Thanks very much to everyone who helped gather the 250+ signatures to get my ballot statement into the Nov 8th Ballot.
I am running for City Council to make Sunnyvale a more sustainable and enjoyable city. Traffic is the prominent concern of Sunnyvale citizens and a major source of greenhouse gases and air pollution and these need to be reduced. Rapid development needs to be slowed and better managed. We’re having affordable housing challenges in Sunnyvale. We need to protect residents in mobile home parks and apartments with rent stabilization policies. We need to provide more transit friendly affordable housing to support our diverse community, including teachers, seniors and others on limited income.
These problems can be tackled by increasing development fees and using the additional funds to increase affordable housing and improve transit options including free shuttles, better bicycle and pedestrian options and safer routes to schools.
I’m an engaged community leader. I chaired SNAIL Neighborhood Association 2013-2015 so I know how to listen to residents. I am a 20 year Sunnyvale resident, married to a teacher. I worked 28 years in semiconductor industry as an engineer and manager. I am the sole candidate endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters because of my proven record as an environmental advocate.
